I somehow got it in my mind that I wanted to write a blog about everything we were learning and everything we wanted to share with you guys. It made sense: Jamie was into learning about non-toxic products for our household and I wanted to get away from over-the-counter products and start living a (less) stressful life.
When I was looking into ways that we could all relax at the end of a long day, I started thinking about candles or oils. My husband and I both work full time and have horrendous commutes to and from work. I wanted to come home and have us not be so anxious. Home was supposed to be a place to relax and unwind. With a toddler at home, 2 dogs and 2 cats, the house can get a little out of hand.
I had heard about oil diffusers and how people would smell the oils to relax at night. Then I remembered that my sister in law had a few oils that she was using with her kids (for tummy aches and ear infections). Turns out she was an “independent distributor” and told me a little bit about Young Living Essential Oils. I had never heard of the company before but quickly started reading up on it and what their products were about. I found myself signed up and using my oils that very day they arrived.
What have we diffused? Lavender, Joy and Peace and Calming, mainly.
What have we applied? PanAway, Lavender, Tea Tree Oil, Tranquility Roll-On and Stress Away Roll On
What have we ingested? Lemon, Peppermint, Thieves and Frankincense.
More to come on all of that as well as my new found passion for DIY toiletries and substitutions for over-the -counter products that are safe and smell good at the same time! I will share my recipes and what has worked and NOT worked with the oils.
