International Baby Wearing Week runs from October 4th through October 10th. What a great opportunity for moms and dads to promote baby wearing and all of the benefits it has!
(Charli in the Moby wrap at a couple months old)
Babywearing is the practice of keeping your baby or toddler close and connected to you as you engage in daily activities through the use of a a baby carrier. It promotes bonding, supports breastfeeding, makes toting your little one around easier and is a great way to get your baby to sleep!
(Me toting Charli around San Francisco when she was 14 months old)
One of the best uses for Babywearing (for us) was cooking and cleaning when Charli was a baby. She loved being close to us and part of the daily action. When she got older, we went from an original Ergobaby carrier to the Ergobaby 360, which let her face forward and see the world, which she LOVED!
On our recent trip to Europe, the baby carrier was a savior for running her around the terminals and gates of the airport, as well as taking her aboard the plane. When you have your hands full of bags and luggages, it sure does make traveling with a little one much easier!
I’m 23 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and I still have no problem carrying Charli around in the carrier. She’s 21 months old and I’ll carry her as long as I am comfortable doing so.
Over time, we’ve been the proud owner of many carriers: BECO, Moby wrap and Ergobaby.
Which ones have you tried ? Did one work out for you better than another brand?
Happy Babywearing everyone!
-Kim

I had a linen wrap that I used for baby carrying. Loved it!
My guys are 8 months apart (I was pregnant when we adopted) and I was able to carry the oldest one in my wrap through the entire pregnancy. Once my youngest one was born, I never found a way to wear both of them, but using the wrap, let me carrying the other in my arms still.
Wow..supermom! That’s great to hear, Maggie!
I’ve never worn a baby (I don’t have kids) but when I do, I definitely think I’ll do it; it makes life look a lot more manageable!
It really does, Chelsie! ?
I love the sling and my ergo. I am 10 weeks ahead of you at 33 weeks pregnant and I need to get one of the buckles replaced on my ergo because it broke
I am a huge advocate for baby wearing, I’ve worn all three of my kiddos and they all had different preferences on what kind of carrier or hold they liked. Thanks for the information about baby wearing week!
Wow, great job Natalie!! Congrats on the soon-to-be baby!!
yaaaay!!! i LOVE babywearing!!! i’ve only used the Moby wrap for both girls but i’ve heard so many great things about other carriers. like you said, it’s been a lifesaver for cooking and cleaning and having to just get things done.
congrats on baby #2!
