So, I know it’s winter time, but come on….sometimes you are craving a nice refreshing beverage while away or at home. Hey Mama Teas so graciously sent me one of every flavor of their teas to try out, so I was really excited. Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean that there are only a few beverage options out there for you. I know I get tired of just plain water or juices. Also, these are great to have on hand for staying hydrated while nursing!

What I liked about these teas are that they are USDA certified organic, kosher and use non-GMO ingredients. Each 8oz serving of the tea also contains 0 caffeine and 800 mcg of folic acid! (Super important for pregnant ladies!)

My 2 favorites would have to be the “Life’s a Peach” and “Lemon Glow”. They were both very refreshing and I instantly wanted more! The Lemon Glow tastes like an Arnold Palmer….yum!

The “Minty Morning” would be great for those moms who suffer nausea or morning sickness, as it contains peppermint leaf and ginger.

I have had the pleasure to be a For Two Fitness® Ambassador during my pregnancy and got the opportunity to work out in their finest maternity  apparel! For Two® activewear is designed to meet the needs of the growing pregnant body. It has just the right amount of stretch and support to give you a great range of motion, especially as your body is constantly changing for 9 months.

Product Features:

  • Chafe-free flat lock seams
  • Moisture-wicking and breathable
  • Ultra-soft, tagless, 4-way stretch and recovery
  • Customizable 3-way belly panel for perfect support – under belly, mid-rise, or over belly
  • Inner brief with reinforced gusset for added comfort and confidence
  • 5″ inseam
  • Easy care
  • Proprietary technical fabric inside and out:

Belly panel: 87% Polyester / 13% Spandex
Short: 95% Polyester / 5% Spandex
Inner brief: 100% Polyester

IMG_1013 IMG_1030

The belly panel is super soft and stretchy. You can choose to wear it directly over the belly, or folded over under the belly. I don’t have a preference as to how to wear it earlier on in the pregnancy, but later on, it might feel like more support to wear it over your belly, especially if you are running or doing cardio exercises.

As a runner, I like that these have an inner brief in them. I also really liked how light they were. The wicking material is great for keeping me cool during my workouts and not all sweaty feeling.

The Inspiration Maternity Running Short is all around comfortable! It was great to run in and I would recommend it to pregnant women for these 3 factors:

  1. The customizable belly panel (which lets you decide how you want to wear it against your belly)
  2. The high tech performance fabric won’t shrink or fade (unlike cotton material)
  3. Maternity clothes is expensive as it is and For Two Fitness® apparel is affordable and as high end feeling as other top brands

Check out For Two Fitness for all of your prenatal workout apparel! They’re known for those great tank tops, such as the one I’m wearing in all of the pics! Thanks to them for sponsoring this campaign!

** Use code “HOLIDAY30” to save 30% off of your total order through December 18th! (excludes gift cards)

Happy working out, mommas! You got this!

I found out about BUMPstyle Box from a fellow blogger not too long ago and was super excited to see what they were all about. I’m in my third trimester now…have gained about 20 pounds… and feel like I seriously need some new maternity clothes that actually fit and are stylish. A lot of my other maternity clothes were from my first pregnancy, so they are getting old and worn out. Also, sometimes a girl just needs some new clothes to make her feel better, right?! So what is this BUMPstyle Box exactly?

BUMPstyle Box is a chic maternity boutique delivered to your door. Your box usually contains 3 to 4 complete hand-selected outfits. Which includes a variety of dresses, pants/jeans, shoes and accessories. The great news is, is that you get to try on the items from your BUMPstyle box in the comfort of your own home. You get a personal stylist who will include a hand written note describing exactly how to wear each outfit. Your stylist is with you every step of the way! There are no subscriptions or shipping fees and even better you will only be charged for what you keep!

IMG_0556

Once the box arrived to my house, I immediately tried on everything first and decided if I liked the item(s) or not. Whatever I did not think looked right on me, I simply returned back in their prepaid box. Whatever I did keep, I paid for. Easy, right? Their personal stylist even wrote me a handmade note describing each of the pieces and how to wear them, which was nice.

A plus about these boxes: before you got your first box, you filled out a personal questionnaire that describes your clothing style and what type of things you think flatter your figure or not. You also told them the types of stores you shop at so they could get an idea of the types of clothes you already wear. I am totally a J. Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, H&M type of girl. I like more clean looks and I don’t take a lot of risks with too bold of patterns or colors for the most part.

Here is a sample outfit of what came in the box that I really liked! Both of these pieces happened to come from the brand “Ingrid and Isabel”, which is a widely popular maternity line.

IMG_0785 IMG_0788

These tights are seriously THE BEST! I’ve been looking for a great maternity tight that was NOT sheer and that did not sit tight against my belly. These tights go over the belly and stayed there without bunching or pilling !

DSC_0731

IMG_0770

I also liked how the tights can be folded over and sit under your belly( if you prefer). These are actually so comfy, I think I could get away with wearing them even if I wasn’t pregnant! They stayed put even with the waistband folded over, which made them ideal.

The shirt was super soft cotton and had rouching on the side to compliment your growing body. It is in my opinion, a very flattering design. I will be keeping these 2 pieces for sure. I look forward to seeing more of what they offer!

I recieved some samples of “Mommi” products in the mail and was delighted to try them right away. I hate taking prenatal vitamins and so I was looking for alternative ways to get all the nutrition (vitamins and minerals) that I need during my pregnancy. Let me start off with an introduction of the product!

Erin Schurtz created Mommi 3-in-1- a smooth-flavored daily supplement that packs 15 grams of premium whey protein, 100% of the daily recommended prenatal vitamins and 200mg of DHA in every serving. It’s just what you need for you and your growing baby!  She developed this product once she found out she was pregnant. As an active woman, she had always supplemented her diet with protein bars and powders. But she got concerned when she’d read the labels and they carried the same warning: “not recommmended for pregnant women”.  Mommi is committed to building its products with the best ingredients and is safe for anyone, including those who are pregnant or nursing.  The products are:

*Gluten Free

* MSG Free

* Non-GMO tested

* Contain 100% essential vitamins, 100% folic acid and 100% iron

I got a chance to try the 3-in-1 singles in Chocolate and Vanilla.

For the Chocolate, I followed the directions and simply mixed it with 10 oz of milk.

For the Vanilla, I did a blueberry and banana blended drink with yogurt and ice. The yogurt I used was vanilla flavored so I think it made the final product a little too sweet! Next time, I would omit any flavored yogurt!

Overall, I think that the product is a good alternative to a prenatal vitamin as it gives you a chance to blend it with milk or yogurt to get your daily calcium fix!

*The product is sweet, so no need to add anything to it with any sugar.

*Mixed with milk, it took about 2 minutes of stirring to get the clumps to dissolve, so perhaps it’s best to drink it blended, in my opinion.

*These single serve packets are great to take when traveling as they fit in the palm of your hand, or easily in your bag.

*The cost is $2.99/ serving (individual packs) or $32.99 for a bag with 15 servings in it ($2.20/serving)

What a fabulous day for a race! Slightly overcast and not quite 80 degrees yet …I got up at 6:15am to head out the door at 6:30am. The race took place at the Pleasant Prairie Rec Plex at Lake Andrea. The race started at 7:00am, but we only live 10 minutes away, so I wasn’t worried about making it on time. I ended up going solo ( since the hubby just got himself and our little one up at 6:30am).

Usually my pre-race meal is a banana and maybe some crackers and water. While trying to run out the door, the best I could do was a a few cheese crackers…. Oh well.

I got to the race and discovered that the 5K (women only) had a small turnout. Not gonna lie, I was excited, as I knew this meant I had a chance at placing well in my age group.

This event is part of the Irongirl event series. Most women there that day were competing in the sprint triathlon. You could also choose to do their 5K event, which is what I chose.

As the race got underway, we passed the lake where the triathletes would swim across as the first leg of their event. Many of them cheered us on as we circled around, which made me smile. I remember what it was like to be on the other end… and suddenly got the bug to get into triathlons again…but that will have to wait till after #2 arrives.

A bunch of us girls were in the lead and we discovered that we missed a turnoff into the wooded area… That put me 0.15 miles out of place that I had to recoup. Luckily I had it in me and darted out a 9:00 min pace to get me caught back up into mile 2.

As I was nearing the end, I tried not to look at my watch and concentrate on my breathing and cadence. I looked behind at one point and saw I had a good lead in front of the next person behind me.

To my surprise, the hubby, my sister and baby girl were at the finish line to cheer me on!

I finished 4th overall and 1st in my age group!

I would have gotten a better time if not for the minor set back.

I would definitely do this race again for its proximity to my house and scenic lake view.

Yeah! I’m finally in my second trimester, which means I have more energy now! Gotta admit that the first trimester sucked a lot of the energy and motivation out of me. All I wanted to do was eat and (wish I could nap at work!) try to get in what little workouts I could. Luckily, I didn’t have any morning sickness really with both of my pregnancies. I was able to eat anything I wanted and had no real aversions to foods or smells.  This go around is a little different. I really have bad cravings (carbs, carbs, sweets and more sweets)….which means I gained a few pounds faster than my first pregnancy.

BUT….with that being said….I have worked out just about my entire teenage and adult life. So NOT working out is NOT an option. If you have been involved in team sports, or fitness classes, you know you get a certain rush that comes with seeing yourself accomplish incredible things. You see how strong your body really is and how building a good cardio base is so important to maintain. As a “runner”, I know that if I stop running, I will lose my foundation that I built so hard to achieve! After I completed the Chicago Marathon in October 2014, I really stopped “training” for long distance races. I stopped attending the Saturday morning long runs with my running group and really enjoyed the break of not having to train 4-5 days a week. This meant more time with my daughter and hubby.  I have really enjoyed the break, but I still managed to get at least 2 outdoor runs in a week, so that I was still able to enjoy my hobby and not lose my cardio ability. To this day, I still stick to that regimine as well as doing 2 cardio fitness classes during the week on my lunch break at work.  The class is great for weight training and cardio (treadmill running and rowing).

Since I have been pregnant this go around, I decided to keep up with the training and casual running as I felt comfortable to do. Last pregnancy I had to stop running around 4-5 months along due to all the weight on my bladder!  I’m really hoping that this pregnancy is different and I’m able to run longer!

I completed a 5K at the local gym here by my house a couple of weeks ago. It was very hot out and I was not prepared for that at all. I have to admit I had to walk a couple of times to cool down. I figured it was OK for me to do this, since I didn’t want to overheat and since I was “running for two”. Although I felt like I let myself down, I actually came in 1st in my age group! Woo hoo!

This upcoming weekend, I decided to join another 5K at the same location, that is part of the Irongirl event series. Since I have been out of the triathlon circuit now for a couple of years, I’m just sticking to running now….but I’ll cheer on a couple of my friends who are doing the tri.

Tonight, I thought I’d post of pic of me at 14 weeks! I’m still able to keep a good pace and hope it stays that way for a little while longer. I know I’ll gain a lot of weight in no time and it won’t be easy to maintain anything under a 10:00 min/mile.

I hope to be a good example to women that you CAN be healthy and exercise during your pregnancy. Know your body and your limits. Follow the advice of your doctor if you have limitations. There are tons of things you can do to stay fit that don’t involve heavy weights or crazy races. I did at-home workout DVD’s for the better half of my last pregnancy and it was great. I can’t wait to see how this pregnancy differs. And lastly, I want my daughter to see that mommy and daddy are fit and involved. We hope she will be proud of us!

Wish me luck on Sunday! I’ll post my results and pics afterwards!
Good night,

Kim
