Celebrating Lucas’ Wild One Birthday Party

So we celebrated our last one year old party this weekend. A little bittersweet, a little relief, and a whole lot of fun! A combination of Etsy, local shops and vendors, and a bunch of family and friends made for a fun end of summer and Wild One birthday party!

We had a great mix of friends, new coworkers, family and school mates over to keep everyone entertained and happy. A special shout out to Cory’s parents for helping man the food stations and the bouncy house, and my sister for working her mojito bar!

I actually planned everything about 2 weeks out. I’m not typically the party planning type, but a first birthday deserves to go all out. Seeing as Lucas’ first year has been “wild”, it was only fitting to go with a Wild One theme.

I searched Amazon and Etsy for the cute decorations that didn’t go overboard, but that made subtle impressions! Seeing as my first 2 kids are girls, it was cute to do a manlier theme this go around.

Party bags: Personalized from Etsy

Assorted Animal Masks: Amazon

Wooden Blocks, Placemats, Table Runner, Garland: Hobby Lobby

Balloons: Party City

Wild One Onesie: Etsy

1 Cake Topper: Etsy

Wild One Cake Topper: Etsy

Wild One Party Cups for Kids with Lids and Straws: Amazon

Photo Banner 1-12 months : Amazon

We catered 2 trays of Cluckers Chicken (hello….amazing….totally ordering from there again for next party!) They delivered all the way from Libertyville about 15 minutes before start of party, which was perfect! Their garlic mashed potatoes were a hit!

Also, no party is complete without a jump house, am I right? If your kid is a Wild One, they need to be jumping in a bounce house. The guys at Jump N Jax were great, I highly recommend them!

Lucas decided that he no longer wants to take an afternoon nap since turning the big 1 year old, so he was up the entire party! He enjoyed mingling with guests and playing with balloons and opening up his presents!

After a long day, we said good bye to all of the amazing guests. We had a lot of cake and chicken left over (which didn’t bother us one bit!). My sister and I applied eye masks that night, and we high-fived to another successful birthday party.

Are first birthday’s a great milestone or bittersweet? I can’t decide yet. I know we all had a blast, and I think at this point in our lives, it’s a relief to be celebrating our last one. (Plus- the Wild One birthday theme was very fun!)

We look forward to many more birthday parties with our crew. We can only hope that each one is as special to the child as the last one was. Cheers and happy birthday to our Wild One!
