Maternity Photos In A Sunflower Field

Sometimes you just take an impromptu trip to a beautiful location because you hear that the flowers have just bloomed and it’s spectacular to see. That’s just what we did a couple of weeks ago when we found out we had a sunflower field not too far away that was welcoming photographers and customers alike to come enjoy the natural beauty of the of land.

My good friend (and photographer) messaged me about this field of sunflowers in Wisconsin and we jumped on the chance to get some maternity photos done and some sweet pics of both of our children at the same time. I’ve never been to a sunflower field before, and it was every bit as beautiful as I imagined.

As I am 30 weeks pregnant today, I’d love to share with you the precious moments that she captured. I grabbed whatever dress I could from my closet and got the girls in some cute neutral and denim patterns to match!

What you don’t see behind the scenes are my girls freaking out because of bugs that they see on the plants, or them not wanting to cooperate with walking into the aisles of sunflowers because the plants were poking them. (LOL!)

I was trying my best to not let the wind or heat interfere, as I really wanted some pretty shots next to these magnificent flowers! All of the sunflower faces were going the same way, I’ve never seen anything like it. Apparently we only had a short amount of time to get photos with them before they track their bloomed “face” to the side that the sun is on!

The lady who worked at the field was selling sunflowers as well. You could cut your own flower and purchase them for $1.00. A great deal if you ask me! We brought home a flower and set it on our kitchen window sill and enjoyed it for a whole week!

Do you have a sunflower field by you? If you ever get the chance to go to one, I highly recommend it! (This one was up in Burlington, WI if you were wondering.) Photographing with sunflowers surrounding you was not only uplifting, but so beautiful and tranquil. I can’t wait to visit it again next summer!
