*I was given a Joovy Caboose Ultralight in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are solely my own. Please read my disclosure for more information.
Ever since the kids were born, we have thought about getting a double stroller. We were given a hand-me-down side-by-side stroller from my sister-in-law, but after trying to fold it up and lift it into our car, I gave up on the idea all together. For someone that is only 5 feet tall, you can imagine that lifting a stroller that weighs almost 35 pounds into the trunk of a car would not be an easy feat on a daily basis. I’d love to share my review of the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Double Stroller!
I had done a lot of research on different double strollers that were forward and back seats, instead of side-by-side seats. There were so many times that I would have both kids with me while running errands, and one of them would be tired, or one of them didn’t want to walk. If I was going to get a stroller, it needed to be one that was A) light-weight, B) inexpensive and C) easy to maneuver.
After speaking to the fine people at Joovy, whom I met at the Chicago Baby Show this summer, they agreed to let me try out the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Double Stroller! At only 23 pounds (without any of the attachments on it), this stroller is ideal for anyone that wants a great double stroller, without having to break your back to get it back into the car. The canopy and tray remove easily for a more compact storage in your vehicle.
The kids have been loving our daily walks because I get to walk them both (They get really jealous, for some reason, when the other one gets mom to push them). This is a win-win for me as far as I am concerned! Plus, Charli gets to stand up in the back while watching the world in front of her, or sit on the seat to face me! Emmy gets the front seat with the snack tray and foot rest!
We have a few strollers at home, and another thing that makes the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stroller stand out are the sealed bearing wheels for better maneuverability. Plus, you can lock them to keep them in the forward steering position, or lock them into position for all around steering. I really think this is one of the best parts of this stroller. There is nothing I hate more than a stroller with bad wheels and one that does not steer easily.
Some of the other amenities it comes with are: a large canopy for the front seat, an easy to attach/detach extension cover for the back seat, a parent organizer (to place your water bottle, keys, phone, etc), a 3-position front seat to allow for a comfortable stroll or sleep, the stand-on platform in the back is already attached, so you don’t have to do it yourself, the rear bench has a 3-pont harness to ensure your older child is secure in their seat and lastly, it is very easy to fold up and secure close!
*There are plenty of add-on options available for this stroller, such as the Caboose Rear Seat (if your older child is 2.5 years old or younger and you want a full reclining seat option for them and the Rain Cover would be ideal for protecting your kids in case of wind or rain.
I hope you found this review to be helpful! I have been using the stroller for a few weeks now and I really feel that for the price, this is a great double stroller that serves its purpose and is the lightest-weight one on the market. I would recommend this for leisurely trips to the mall, zoo, park and amusement theme parks. I would not take this off-roading or on bumpy terrain.
Have you tried this double stroller before? Which ones have you tried or bought? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I have had my ultra light for 3 years now. Have travelled extensively with it. Last Friday the first time I was told I had to check it as luggage by the TSA. Really upset me that I travelled to Miami with it, but Miami pulled it for weight. Best carriage for the airport with three under six…but seems it is overweight
Bummer that Miami made you check it. But I’m glad it has worked out well for you, otherwise!
