Hi friends! As you know, we put our house up for sale in December, and it sold within a week. After a whirlwind of getting everything sold and buying a new house here, I thought I would give you a sneak peek of our new home in Iowa!

First of all, we decided that we wanted a smaller house. We went from a 3400 sq ft house to a 1540 sq ft house. The old house was 2-story with a basement, and the new house is a ranch style with a lower level.
Prepping to move into this house meant donating A LOT of our stuff. In the new house we don’t have a formal dining room, extra bedroom or playroom.
Thank goodness we were able to get the important furniture and living pieces into the new home. We ended up just storing what we couldn’t put out into our 2 storage rooms downstairs.
Since our movers weren’t scheduled to deliver right away, we sat on the floors and slept in sleeping bags for a couple nights.
Eating out of our coolers and take out pizza for a couple of days was funny. We did take one trip to the laundromat, and go figure, the washer and dryer got delivered to the house!
The house did not come with a refrigerator, washer or dryer. Thank you, Lowes for such speedy service! We got all three within 24 hours of ordering from them in-store.

We are thrilled to have LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) instead of our old tile that made up the majority of our lower level in the old house. The white trim is stunning to look at throughout and the dark wood accents are a great pop of color along the stairs and mantle.
Our old furniture fits so well in this home. The colors and sizes all look so attractive against the flooring and wall paint colors.

One of the downsides to moving into a new house: no window treatments! We have some temporary paper ones up for now, until we chose which kinds of blinds we want. So many choices!

The main floor is home to our guest bedroom/office, master bedroom, kitchen, full bathroom, living room, dining area, laundry room, mud room, deck and entrance to the garage.
The bottom level has 2 storage rooms (one has the HVAC system and the other has the electrical panel), Lucas’ room, the girls room, a full bathroom and a large living room space.

We still have a lot of things to hang up, and organizing to do, but we’re getting there! I’m missing our toy room right about now- so half of their toys are in this living space and some are in their bedrooms now.

In our almost 2 weeks of living here, we’ve had 3 snows (one of which we drove into on the way over), and temps in the constant 20’s. We have a huge lake and trail system right outside our back door that we can’t wait to explore!
I can’t wait to show you more as we complete the decorations and figure out the window treatments. The master bedroom is a work in progress so that will be next on the blog!
