I’m so excited to show you guys Emmy’s bedroom since we moved some things around to prepare for the new baby. Her room now includes a transition from toddler bed to queen bed, a new rug, and a new shelf/dresser.
Since she already had colorful theme in the room, it was perfect timing to add some nice pieces to further accentuate it. My friends at Lorena Canals gifted me a beautiful new rug from their newest Oh Joy! Happy Rug Collection and I couldn’t be more thrilled to add it to her room!
You know I love Lorena Canals’ rugs, and this collection is nothing more than impressive. This “Happy Prism” pattern that I chose is soft and totally eye catching. It was just what the room was needing. (The 5 other patterns in the collection are just as fun as this one is!)
Made with 100% natural cotton and non-toxic dyes, these sustainable and eco-friendly handcrafted rugs are beautiful and so easy to maintain. (Just pop them into a standard washer and dryer to keep the rugs looking brand new.)
The next thing we changed was adding a queen bed to the room. This was Charli’s old bed, that only made sense to give to Emmy. She did so well in her toddler bed for the last 8 months, we wanted to try out a larger bed and see how it would work out.
The bedding is all sheets and pillowcases that we already owned. I’m hoping to find something that I really like to make it her own. I will admit that we are still working on her bigger bed transition, but I’m certain she will get used to it in no time. The rainbow garland over the window is from Hobby Lobby and we had it in there from when she was born.
We picked up a really cute storage bin from IKEA that we are actually using as a dresser. This way, it’s on her level and the the bins are easy to open up. We are hoping she learns how to help dress herself and choose clothes for the day!
I love how the top of it acts like a little table or place for her to put some toys or puzzles if she wants. We might actually make a pillow top cushion for her to use it as a seat if she wants.
Because it is a toddler girl room, we wanted to make sure that it looked fun, was functional, and the pieces were safe and appropriate for her age. The little couch in the corner is one of her favorite places to read her books in. And on both sides of her bed, we left it free of any furniture or toys, so that she didn’t fall or stumble on anything when coming out of her bed.
Lastly, we added a little shelf above her reading nook, and put in a couple of our favorite pictures of her and mommy and daddy. Her beautiful little cross and book of prayers is always in site and we think it turned out adorable.
