Our Visit To The Kenosha County Fair!

This past weekend, we visited the Kenosha County Fair in Wilmot, WI for the first time. It was a hot, sunny day…perfect for root beer floats and sweet corn! Here are some of the photos that highlight our favorite moments from the fair.

First off, we saw this adorable fresh fruit and vegetable stand. The girls loved looking at and feeling all of the produce. We brought home some corn, sweet peppers, muskmelon and onions!

Since it was the last day of the fair, we decided to head over to see the animals. My hubby grew up in 4-H and even used to show and raise sheep, so he said that we should go check out the animals before they started to get the animals ready to go back home.

We started off in the horse barn. Emmy was sort of scared…..ok, she was practically clung onto me for the whole horse aisle. I’m not sure why she was afraid of them, but I enjoyed looking at them at let her view them from afar. Once we moved onto cows….same story.

Well, after passing those large animals, Emmy finally let me put her down and see the chickens, rabbits and turkeys. We ended up not afraid of animals anymore, and very curious to see more!

Of course, no visit to the county fair would be complete without a ride on the carousel and a photo of your head in various farm animal bodies. (I live for both of these!) You’ll see grandpa Spaetti in a couple of these photos as the hubby’s parents were visiting us this past weekend.

Don’t laugh, but we always have to take a photo on ANY tractor that is at a show. It’s just in their nature talk agriculture equipment at all times. When your hubby is in the industry (and has worked for almost all of the major tractor companies), we always have to see what the latest equipment is out there.

It is actually pretty cute to see the girls sitting on the tractors. Since we don’t get down to the hubby’s home town all that often, this is a chance to bring the farm to us.

If you get a chance to go to a county fair (or even better, a state fair) with your family, you should definitely do it! It’s a great place take your kids to see animals close up, fresh fruits and vegetables, and beautiful arts and crafts from such talented people. The people that run these events put a lot of hard work into showing off their skills and labor.

I can not wait for next year when the kids are a little older to ride some of the kiddie rides and enjoy more of the fair food. Do you or your family get out to the fair? What do you love about going to one? My favorite thing to see are the live animals!
