Can you believe that summer is actually coming to an end (insert sad face)?! In less than 1 week we will be celebrating the first day of fall and I’ve decided to come up with list of things to do to keep myself and the girls busy I’m the next few months. Now that we live in the midwest, we have to make the most of the seasons, since we get cooped up in the winter months. So, here is my fall bucket list-what is on yours?
- Visit a pumpkin patch/farm- There’s nothing better than going to the local pumpkin farms to let the kids enjoy all of the activities that they have. Hayrides, petting zoos, pony rides, it’s all good fun for the whole family!
- Go pick apples- This has been on my list for such a long time! I haven’t gone to pick apples at an orchard since I was a little girl.
- Bake all the pumpkin things you want to- I am going to get it all out of my system as long as the season is here. Pumpkin bread, lattes, cookies, pies and muffins…bring on the recipes if you’ve got ’em!
- Fall clothes shopping- Need I say more? Is there anything cuter than boots, jeans, scarves and chunky cardigans? I love everything about fall colors on me; oranges and browns are my jam.
- Visit the Botanic Gardens- My favorite outings with my family include going to places where we can enjoy the scenery and be outdoors. I love the Chicago Botanic Gardens all year, but fall is a great time to go for a nice scenic walk when it isn’t scorching hot out.
- Take family photos- We usually do family photos in the fall when the weather is just beautiful and the trees leaves have all changed over. This gives me plenty of time to get our Christmas cards ready without scrambling to take family photos in the early winter.
- Host a Halloween party- It’s been quite a few years since I’ve hosted a Halloween party, so I think I’ll do one this year. I’ve already gotten a few things from Target to get started on it…I bet you can’t wait to see my halloween costume!
- Build a fire- Since our deck was out of commission for (what seemed like) the majority of summer, we didn’t do a fire pit or any outdoor fires this year. The hubby is just about done redoing the deck (power washing, board replacements, full sanding of all the spindles, re-staining), we will be all ready for some great outdoor nights this fall!
- Go to a corn maze- Now this is something i have never done before. The thought actually freaks me out to think that anyone would want to go run around in a maze of corn. The idea is gaining on me, lately and i might actually get to one this year!
- Make some new and delicious recipes using pumpkin or squash for dinner- I really love all of the different varieties of squash, but I never cook with them. I want to find some good recipes and cook up some sauces or soups!

Great ideas!!! Going to have to bookmark this.
